Watch for wind slab development locally on Monday. Increasing winds may start to move the 20–40cm of recent snow.
Great skiing up high, but expect early-season hazards down low.
No avalanches reported in the backcountry today. Sunshine Ski Hill was getting small wind slabs (size 1) with explosives in Delerium Dive.
20-40 cm of storm snow from last weekend is settling and bonding. Isolated thin wind slabs exist on high-alpine lee aspects. Below ~2300 m, a rain crust exists below the storm snow. The mid- and lower-snowpack is well settled where thicker, and facetting (getting weaker) where thin. Tree-line snow depths range from 70-125cm.
Monday will see increased NW alpine winds (up to 50 km/h), a trace of new snow, and, at treeline, daytime highs of -9C.
Not much changes on Tuesday except for lighter winds.
