No slab avalanches have been reported yet, although small windslabs in leeward areas in the high alpine are likely. Sluffs up to size 1.5 where reported on the Wapta Icefields.

Snowpack Summary

Snow has begun to accumulate at the high elevations with 30-60 cm reported on the Wapta Icefields area. Treeline looks to have 5-10 cm in the western areas, but expect this amount to grow over the coming week.

The transition to winter is underway with snow in the forecast in the high mountains around Lake Louise. Possibly 20-40 cm at high elevations over the next 5-7 days, with a significant cooling coming by Oct 25 (-20).
