Avalanche Summary
Avalanches can occur at any time during the summer season on the high peaks, typically as a result of a summer snowstorm or a hot day with wet snow. Always start your days early and finish early.
Snowpack Summary
A warm and sunny spring following on the heels of a low snowpack winter has resulted in an early summer in the Rocky Mountains. Much of the snow in the eastern slope mountains has melted away by the end of May, and the river levels have already peaked and begun to come down again. Summer mountaineering conditions are good for the end of May, but feel similar to mid-July.
