Avalanche Summary

Avalanche observations are limited to small dry loose avalanches in steep and sheltered terrain features, and size 1-2 slabs in wind-affected terrain on all aspects.

Observations remain limited this early in the season. if you head into the backcountry, please post to the Mountain Information Network!

Snowpack Summary

Surface conditions includes wind affected snow in exposed areas, and up to 30 cm of settling snow in sheltered terrain features.

A crust buried in early November is 50-90 cm below the surface. In some places, there may be weak facets or surface hoar above this crust. Observations are limited this early in the season. While the extent and reactivity are not fully understood, we have not had recent reports of avalanches or test results on this layer.

Treeline snowpack depths average 80-150 cm.

Mostly cloudy with isolated flurries possible. 10 to 20 km/h southwest ridgetop wind. Treeline temperature -14 °C.

Monday

A mix of sun and cloud with light snowfall. 10-30 km/h westerly ridgetop wind. Treeline temperatures around -8 °C.

Tuesday

A mix of sun and cloud. Westerly ridgetop winds increase over the day to 40-60 km/h. Treeline temperature -8 °C.

Wednesday

A mix of sun and cloud with possible flurries. Westerly ridgetop winds remain strong, around 50 km/h. Treeline temperature -12 °C.
