The avalanche hazard is expected to rise significantly Monday evening and all day Tuesday with the incoming storm.
No new avalanche activity has been observed in this region in the past week.
New storm snow now overlies the December 2nd interface, which consists of surface hoar up to 10mm, a thin sun crust on south and west aspects, and facets. Strong SW winds continue to redistribute snow at treeline and above. The snowpack is generally between 20-30cm in depth with a faceted base.
An atmospheric river has hit the west coast, and with it, warm temps, mixed precip, and high winds will create challenging conditions for all travel.
