Central Rockies
Several whumpfs and shooting cracks at all elevations.
It was 0°c up to 1700m by 10am with a 5-10cm temperature crust. Above this elevation the crust gradually disappears. Skied up to 2400m on NE aspect with a HS of 300cm+ . Wind affected slightly lower in the path at 2000m. By 4pm, 1700m down to valley bottom was isothermal and almost ski pen to ground. Air temp was +5°c. Managed to cross both rivers in the AM & PM with still a few thin places to cross but it's going to be a bit desperate in the very near future. The day was mostly overcast or broken skies, with some flurries & light winds with moderate gusts from SW. Only recent avalanche activity were some very small dry loose in the alpine out of steep rocky features & steep solar aspects as well as small wet loose on steeper slopes below treeline.
Great skiing and fun terrain around dragon peak if you like a good long slog for the approach. Recent natural avalanches observed on dragon peak and in the Winston Churchill range on opposite aspects out of the alpine.
Two nights up at the Fryatt Hut. 10cm new load overnight with moderate to strong winds from the west. HS outside the hut (~2000m) 40-45 cm heavily faceted to ground. Low snow cover below headwall but still skinable.
