Avalanche Summary
Over the weekend several natural wind slab avalanches were reported. These avalanches were up to size 2 and on northerly alpine features.
Early season reports have been extremely limited, especially in areas near Terrace. Please consider submitting your observations to the Mountain Information Network.
Snowpack Summary
The snow surface is highly variable. Soft faceted snow and surface hoar can be found in sheltered areas. In exposed terrain the surface is highly wind affected.
On sheltered features, in the northern part of the forecast region, a surface hoar layer could be found down 60 cm.
A crust from early November can be found down 50 to 120 cm. Below this prominent crust are several others from October.
Snow depths vary across the region, but generally range from 100 to 200 cm in the alpine and about 50 cm at 1000 m.

- Seek out sheltered terrain where new snow hasn't been affected by wind.

Small pockets of wind slab could be found on all aspects but the most reactive slabs will likely be found on northerly slopes in the alpine. Wind slab could be found further down slope than expected due to strong wind over the weekend.
