Avalanche Summary
No new avalanches were reported on Monday. Looking forward, the most likely areas for riders to trigger avalanches are in lower alpine slopes, where pockets of buried surface hoar may exist under a slab of snow from last weekend.
Observations remain limited in this region. If you head into the backcountry, please consider sharing your observations to the Mountain Information Network (MIN)!
Snowpack Summary
Around 10 to 30 cm of snow overlies a hard melt-freeze crust up to 1300 m and perhaps isolated pockets of surface hoar crystals in wind-sheltered openings at treeline and above. At upper elevations, westerly wind may have formed deeper snow deposits in lee terrain features in wind-exposed terrain.
There are currently no deeper layers of concern.

Terrain and Travel Advice
- Be careful with wind-loaded pockets, especially near ridge crests and rollovers.
- Investigate the bond of the recent snow before committing to your line.
- Surface hoar distribution is highly variable. Avoid generalizing your observations.
- Avalanche activity is unlikely when a thick melt-freeze crust is present on the snow surface.
Problems
Storm Slabs
Storm slabs may linger in wind-loaded features at upper elevations or anywhere they rest on buried surface hoar. Surface hoar is most likely to exist is wind-sheltered openings, particularly in the lower alpine.
