Snowpack Summary
The early season snowpack is variable, ranging from areas that are snow free, to gullies and lee features that are snow loaded. There is 15-20cm of snow at treeline, 50-60cms in the alpine and up to 100cm where windloaded. Expect reactive wind slabs where deeper pockets exist. A 5-15 cm thick crust sits at the base of the snowpack with some faceting found above and below. Investigate this layer before you venture into new terrain.
