A cornice-triggered size 2 wind slab was reported earlier this week in extreme terrain.
2 to 3 cm of snow covers various surfaces; a sun crust on steep south-facing, a surface hoar layer in sheltered terrain, and wind-affected snow in most open terrain.
The mid and lower snowpack is strong and bonded, with treeline snow depths averaging 150 to 200 cm.
