Spent the last few days skiing up at Red Mountain Cabin. Decent coverage and skiing above the cabin with 130-190cm of snow with some variable wind effect. The snowpack dramatically dissipates below the cabin. The alders and hidden gems are alive and well.
Avalanche Information
A wind slab cycle occurred in the past 24-48 hours. Any exposed steep slopes in open treeline. Mostly size 1 avalanches with one small size 2 observed. We investigated the interface and it seems to be bonding
since the the cycle. A pit we dug we found surface hoar down 30 and suspect it may have been the culprit.
Snowpack
Test profile on a west treeline start zone glade. We also dug on a North aspect as at treeline and had 190cm of snow depth . We didn’t observe or have any significant results in our pit.
