Surface Hoar Hunting

Found some snow in sheltered openings at 1600m in the Sukunka valley. Lots of evidence of recent wind, with some areas scoured to ground and some drifted almost a meter and a half deep. Dug a lit and found the surface hoar buried under a wind slab about 15 cm down, it failed on the first tap of an extended column test, very spicy. (ECT1 dn 15 SP on SH 10mm) overall height of snow in the pit was 110 cm. Watch the wind slabs for the next bit!
