Lap up Mulligan. Precipitation was light drizzle up to the cutblock, then light snow. Moderate to strong Easterly wind. Snow was heavy and soft, with a very thin breakable crust in the alpine (freeze/thaw or rain). Wind affected snow prevalent, scoured and loaded. Stuck to low angle or small terrain, snow was heavy and difficult to ski where wind loaded.
Dug a 2m deep pit on the wind loaded west face of Mulligan summit ~30° slope. ~25cm soft snow (fist) on top of 1m denser snow (1-2 fingers), some thin crusts through that section of snowpack. Column test showed a planar layer at about 1m down that failed after ~8 shovel hits from the shoulder (hard ones). Layer failed but column did not "pop" and slide. Poor man's ECT (didn't cut the back) failed on same layer from one good body slam.
