Cold but hella sunny

Beauty day for an AST class in the Perry creek, cold but gorgeous when the sun was out! We saw several avalanches on N and E facing slopes in the Alpine, looked to be from last weekend likely. We could trigger small failures on cornices in the meadows, but they were very stubborn. We also found some surface hose down about 40 cm that would fail in compression tests but not propagate in Extended Column tests. About 10 cm of fresh snow over the mid Jan crust skied very nicely for the handful of turns we got.
