Quick Observation

Skiied laps between treeline and highway, lookers left of cutline (if looking up at the mountain from the parking lot). It snowed consistently all day about 1-2cms/hr. Wind from North was gusting in the morning and as we left but calmed midday. Temps stayed between -15C and -20C. We observed a buried (very hard) slab below new storm snow in the elevation band between the end of the large trees and the top of the scraggly alpine trees. There was faceted snow below that slab, and variable amount of new snow above it (10-60cms, variability due to wind transport). Mostly the new snow was unconsolidated powder but we did observe some shallow wind slabs beginning to form on the East aspects we were skiing. The skiing quality was excellent with pretty consistent boot top pow. Also, for anyone wondering about the conditions for exiting those far-lookers-left-of-cutline runs onto the highway (spitting you out ~1.5km past log cabin parking lot towards customs, instead of skinning back up and across right then down cutline), its not terrible (there's alot of snow), but there is definitely still 100-200m of good alder faffery just above the highway and that route is not as appealing as it was even a few years back when the alders and spruce were smaller.
