Quick Observation

There are still faceshots to be found out there if you're a border collie ?. It got pretty warm out there today and the sun definitely packed a punch by the afternoon. The trick was finding the perfect aspect to ski as steep north facing slopes still had dry powder, and there was some awesome skiing to be found. Elsewhere was crusty from the warm temperatures and sun yesterday, or later in the day the snow surface got moist/wet when it had melted again. Loose wet avalanches were starting to come down by 2PM on south and west facing slopes. We also saw evidence of lots of cornices failures in the area and chose to avoid some really tempting ski lines that were unfortunately being menaced by these overhanging gargoyles of snow. The next few days are supposed to be just as warm and sunny so we plan to continue avoiding cornices and trying to find the dry snow on north facing slopes.
