Went for a tour at Whitewater today and were surprised to see the snow in Ymir Bowl severely wind affected compared to the previous day. Decided to keep things mellow by skiing West Ymir. Initial traverse (by second skier) into the bowl triggered a size 2 hard slab avalanche which propagated up into Bamboo chute down 40-60 cm. Went into red alert mode with the rest of our decent choosing to ski simple, supported terrain where possible. However, we pulled out another size 1 slab on a small rollover which didn't run very far. Stayed out of gulley, but in so doing triggered a final size 2 slab on another small convexity. We were VERY surprised by the conditions we experienced today! Stay alert people, especially with this next storm coming in!!
