Quick Observation
Set out to the Halcyon area with the goal of getting as high as possible before the expected crust turned us around. Amazing snow in the trees with some large hoar frost, nice deep powder in sheltered pockets as expected. As we moved out of treeline things got a little crustier, especially as we moved to more SW facing slopes. Opted to push further NE as we ascended which led us to much softer crusts that made for easy travel. Skied some slightly steeper lines near the top of log cabin, the crust we found had warmed which afforded some amazing, well supported skiing. We were wary of N aspects due to the isolated surface hoar weak layer in the MIN, but saw no signs of instability whatsoever. Dug a quick 30x30x30cm cut block by hand and got no shear results. Amazing day out there with variable and sun and clouds, and not a breath of wind.
