We did an exploratory loop around the ridgeline surrounding Burdette Creek. Dug a pit on a small north facing hill just above treeline. Found a mostly wind compacted snowpack with facet layers throughout. Surface hoar at the top and depth hoar at the bottom. Sun crusts and melting surfaces were common on anything with a southern aspect. Cold dry snow was found on northerly aspects. Wind affected snow was also abundant but isolated slopes with the right terrain protection were holding good smooth shallow pow.
