Dolomite Shoulder

Took the direct south ridge up Dolomite Shoulder (don't bother with this variation right now, low snow, rock climbing and 1 tree climb) and skied back down the regular route. Snow in the area is amazing but there is no base, you must be careful not to hit rocks - there are hints of a crust but doesn't seem widespread enough to rely on to keep the coreshots at bay. We skied the first east facing alpine bowl from mid way up, again great snow but no base, we hit a few rocks. The upper alpine looked pretty rough, didn't bother going up high on the shoulder. Access is ok, there has been some traffic and a track is now starting to pack down in the forest, still thin with deadfall issues though.
