Snow was stacking up fast when we got to our staging point at 3.5 km on Victoria 5. Below about 500 m, precipitation fell as rain. Above that, 3-5 cm per hour megaflakes! Thanks, diabatic cooling! Access should be tremendous tomorrow, but today it wasn't quite enough to keep carbides from clattering away on the road.
The crux cutblock climb from the road is looking spicy with lots of stumps to avoid. We held off for today but we could see others have pushed on through. Hopefully it's a more reasonable move after today's storm.
With the access challenge, our ~1100 m snowpack observations were pretty simple - 15 cm of fluff on 35 cm of rock-hard crust sitting on the ground. Keep it coming!
