Crusty on the Duffey

sandy, Wednesday 14th February, 2024 5:30PM
We found every type of crust known to man. Coverage on Slalok is very minimal with tons of sharks buried just under the surface. Avalanche debris is EVERYWHERE on all aspects. Evidence of a couple natural release wind slabs on n/nw aspects. Where we did find pockets of somewhat rideable snow it was wind slabs forming on top of the crusts and reactive to skier traffic. Remnants of up to size 3 wet loose slides from the warming/rain event. The skin track up was ok from the parking lot but not really rideable on the way down. We walked out using crampons.
