Quick Observation

Beautiful sunny day today! The warming in the afternoon created moist snow at lower elevations (below 1300m) and on solar affected faces. We skied a steep east aspect that had a 2cm breakable suncrust from yesterday, but was still fun to ski. The very best skiing to be found was definitely on sheltered north aspects in the trees where the powder was unaffected by wind or sun. The photo of the wind affected snow is a NW aspect. We saw no signs of slab avalanches but saw lots of pinwheeling and several size 1 to 1.5 loose wet avalanches triggered by warming on sunny slopes in the afternoon.
