Quick Observation

Eventful day- First photo. Orange was my planned route on the standard bootpack. I got too far skiers left on the blue line and the skiing was so good I got sucked down further than I should have. I am ashamed to say I was just careless. I will be thinking about my decisions that day for a long time. I was following the tree edges and it did not feel unsafe at that point-no cracks, whoop sounds, etc. I got to the bottom of the last tree section and stopped at the edge where the pitch changes. I was surprised to see a very large avalanche(class 3?) moving downwards and washing through the trees(purple dots). It took me a few seconds to realize I had remotely triggered it with my last few turns before stopping. The fracture line was about a meter deep and only 2-3m from where I had stopped. I decided to skin back up on the green line and back to safety- alive to ski another day! Second photo. Blue ski turns down. Purple is fracture line just over the edge where the slope steepens. Green is my line back up
