Quick Observation

Took advantage of the low hazard at treeline and below today to ski some steep convex avalanche paths at those elevation bands. Ski penetration was minimal: around 5-10cm only, but the skiing was fun and fast. South facing slopes had a sun crust on them so we stuck to north aspects. Ski cuts on steep test slopes had no results. No signs of avalanches in the area either. There is a widespread surface hoar layer with crystals up to 20mm in size. On solar aspects the surface hoar is growing over a crust.
