Great day in the chutes. Sunny, -10C, windier down low than up top. Conditions were progressively more wind effected the higher up we got. Boot top powder down low and more like variably deep dust on crust up top. Wind was all over the place all day. Didn't notice any wind transport off the ridge above until about 4pm, but it was happening on log cabin, Fraser Peak, and peaks in eastern zone all day. Didn't seem to be depositing directly onto the chutes themselves at 4pm, rather being blown toward Fraser Lake. But light crossloading directly on the slope was certainly occuring.
Performed 3 tests. CT and 2 x ECTs. No result on CT, then had a strange result with the second. The whole column collapsed when pulling the cord back up, but I think it snagged on a bush in the basal fact layer and when I tugged on it, it caused a fracture. Did another ECT that came with no result. However, just a little bit of prying on the back with a shovel popped the whole thing. 10cm fresh snow on top and the rest of the snowpack is incredibly consolidated and stiff down until the basal facet layer about 120cm down on this slope.
