Big inversion today. About -17C at the car in the morning, quickly warming up to about -5C at 2500m by midday; little wind and some wet snow even on south slopes. Snowpack is pretty shallow (50cm) and facetted below 2000m, but gets much better, with depths well over 100 cm in the larch forest at 2200 m. About 5-15 cm of facetted snow sits above a supportive crust in most areas. Above treeline there's some very shallow areas and some hard wind crust. There is lots of facetting going on in shallow/rocky areas which deserve some caution in steeper areas. A few smaller slides visible off steep south slopes on Helena Ridge since the last snowfall.
