Quick Observation
Behind the Three Sisters today we found a stiff, supportive crust with 15 cm of fresh on top. Travel up on skis was tough as it was difficult to get an edge in, ski crampons are a must! We gained the ridge at 2100 m and didn't see any sign of recent wind or any avalanches. Digging down into the snowpack, the top half has dried out from the rain and warmth, but the bottom half is still moist. We didn't find any significant weak layers. Riding conditions are tricky right now, the best riding is on mellow slopes where it's not steep enough to be hitting the crust. Old avalanche debris is frozen solid and quite dangerous to travel through.
