Whumpfing near blowdown

Hollow sounding snowpack started at 1950m, whumpfing and lots of crossloading E-W in the basin. Stuck to low angle slopes, did a pit: CTM 14 SP 60 down (windslab) and SC 85 down on decomp mid January crust/SH complex (simultaneous results).

Gradual temp and density gradients until 85 down there is a 5cm thick layer of loose former crust, low density with signs of decomposing surface hoar with rounds. F density in this layer - see pic. Significantly more snow over the crust near 1900m + esp. in cross loaded zones. Hollow sounding snow pack and a significant whumpf lead to scaled back objectives.
