Quick Observation

Hollow sounding snowpack started at 1950m, whumpfing and lots of crossloading E-W in the basin. Stuck to low angle slopes, did a pit: CTM 14 SP 60 down (windslab) and SC 85 down on decomp mid January crust/SH complex (simultaneous results).

Snowpack

CTM14 SP 60 down (windslab) and SC 85 down (mid jan crust) at same time. 10cm fresh on top of wind deposits. Gradual temp and density gradients until 85 down there is a 5cm thick layer of loose former crust, low density with signs of decomposing surface hoar with rounds. F density in this layer - see pic. Significantly more snow over the crust near 1900m + esp. in cross loaded zones. Hollow sounding snow pack and a significant whumpf lead to scaled back objectives.
