Quick Observation

We rode up frisby today in search of fresh tracks. Still pretty shallow around the cabin with roughly a meter of snow on the ground and lots of hidden rocks and stumps. We dug a profile at treeline and found the November 21st crust down 40cm with no alarming results in snowpack tests. In the afternoon we poked up into the alpine. It was low visibility and wind and snowfall were picking up as the next weather system approaches. Overall, we treaded pretty lightly as it is still shallow early season conditions out there. New snow tonight should help the cause, but will likely be accompanied by increasing avalanche danger. Heading out tomorrow, we will be assessing the impact of the new snow on our buried weak layer (Nov 21st interface) and searching for a sheltered riding area in hopes of some early season pow turns!
