Touchy in the Cypress backcountry as expected today. There was a (likely natural) avalanche just off of Collins by the low col between Hollyburn and Strachan on a steep wind loaded roll. Hand shears on the uptrack frequently broke 20-30cm down while isolating, or with minimal force, and came off with energy as defined slabs.
A ski cut on the way down released the avalanche in the photo. It was a small feature but the slide propagated surprisingly far and around some features.
Snow quality was okay. Fun dense north shore pow up high gave way to heavier and heavier snow down low.
