Went out towards 7th Heaven and past the backcountry gates to take a look around and assess lower angled terrain.
Good news is that snow depth at 2000m at treeline is now 165cms. Added approx 60cms in 2 weeks but of course above the rain- snow elevation line. Depth of 220cms at 2150m is also nice to see.
Started out at - 1 and breezy at the 7th ridgeline at 930am. Warmed up a lot though during the day ( as forecasted) with temps spiking 3 degrees in1 hour around 12 noon to 1. We pulled the plug and retreated back to area as could feel the storm + precip coming in fast.
Zipper ice crust between 20 - 30cms down but already rounding into coarse grains (perhaps ambient heat?). Surface sluff naturals off rocks on S facing slopes off Blackcomb Peak.
