The ski resort was open for business today, counted 35 people by 11:30 getting after it.
Supportive crust through tree line, Disappearing at 2000m with up to 4 cm new storm snow filling the old skin track. 15cm ski penetration in the bowl.
There was a stiffer layer in the snow pack about 30cm down in the bowl itself which made for lovely skiing with plenty of fresh stuff still available.
Adventured out into some more steeper terrain the north facing couloir just half way up the bowl on the lookers left.
Through the boot pack we did multiple hand sheers which were stubborn and un reactive there was new storm snow that had been loaded via spindrift but it being sheltered there was very minimal slab properties. Very deep wallowing on the boot pack up “neck deep”. The skiing was great in the couloir with a bit of sluff running if you didn’t pin it.
Snowpack
Dug a pit on a small south facing slope near the bottom of the bowl. Found a right side up snowpack with a few very thin temperature crusts, down 40, 50, and 80cm.
