Watch out for windslabs!

Strong katabatic winds creating 20-30cm 1F windslabs over F snow. Hand shears showing SP results on isolation. Large shooting cracks and whumpf’s were experienced while ascending. We turned around before exposing ourselves to any large slopes with the potential to toe trigger a windslab. Notable change in surface texture over 24hr period. Continued faceting of storm snow in protected terrain. On the drive home over the Duffey, continued wind transport was observed from large plumes off the peaks from the northerly wind.
