Boom Lake South Chutes

Skied up to Boom Lake leaving the parking lot at 8:30am. Went up one of the large slide paths and did some laps of the top 300m. It still needs filling in at the bottom, but it generally skied well. Skinning was difficult, with facets and knee deep collapse until about 2200m, where the sun crust underneath became supportive on solar aspects only. At approximately 2550m, an extremely reactive 20cm deep wind crust was found, propagating and sliding easily on the sun crust beneath. At this point, we turned around due to the danger. The wind was much stronger than forecast with strong gusts throughout the day. Took a look across the valley at Kindergarten couloir - lots of wind affect is present.
