Quick Observation

Started at cypress went up and over strachan and joining the HSCT. Followed it to the ridge below the west lion and then skied out to lions bay. We saw widespread evidence of a natural cycle that must've run before or during the last storm as the debris and bed surfaces were covered with fresh snow. Crowns around 20-30cm. A quick pit on the backside of strachan in an area that hadn't slid showed planar failures at ~30 and ~60cm. Noticed settling of the snowpack in one instance in a protected, treed area just past st. marks when one of our group members stopped right beside me (extra weight seemed to do it). From the bench below and east of unnecessary mnt. we heard multiple slides which sounded like they came from the south faces of the lions. I suspect they were loose slides; Vis was obstructed by some cloud. We skied off the lions ridge along with a few others groups around 3pm. The slope had been well sun baked at this point with the surface snow starting to get a little heavy. We didn't see any reactivity while skiing.
