Quick Observation

With day after day of (1-3cm) accumulation in Whitehorse we got excited and decided that there must be enough snow in the pass to at least go for a walk. Despite the pictures, we still stubbornly put on our skis and tried to weave our way through the rocks and trees but only made it ~200m before deciding it really wasn't worth wrecking our skis when there was no chance of taking our skins off. There was roughly 15cm of snow in the pass but since it fell during cold temps it is not dense enough to be forming any sort of base and is just getting blown around and forming weak bridges over small rocks and shrubs. So yeah, save yourself the trip unless you have a smooth grassy slope in mind because you really can't even travel off road right now. And probably won't be able to for a few more weeks or until we get a significant wet snowfall to provide some sort of base. On the plus side it was warmer at the summit than it was on Mt Sima (-15C with a north wind making it feel closer to -30C).
