Snowpack

VERY variable conditions. very thin glaze like crust (rain crust?) below treeline. Treeline snow is a mix of soft, un-consolidated 40/60cm (some would call it powder) right across to 0 foot pen crusts. Spatial variability is huge - these two conditions are present within 10 metres of each other on the same aspects. Below the snow surface there are no discernable crusts, and I found no evidence of the surface hoar layer from Nov 30/31. Snow is a mix of facets and rounds, with the facets more prevalent where the surface crust is thicker.
