Quick report

I skied from Chains End to a small clearing slightly east of the turnoff to the Snow Survey Cabin on Hwy 130. The south facing slopes are thin and spotty in places, especially below 10,000'. The persistent weak layers (from mid-February and Christmas) remain but are more stubborn to trigger after the multiple recent melt-freeze cycles. The N-E-S facing slopes also have some wind loading with the current windy conditions pulling snow from the west slopes. Watch for wet loose avalanches on S facing slopes due to warm temperatures and longer daylight hours (especially on steep slopes). The snowpack is currently very soft, with an icy thin crust on top. My pit results yielded ECTX.
