Core Lodge area

Quick pit in NW facing glade at 1600 m elevation. Hs 120 cm, variable. Density change at 35 cm down, couldn't see any surface hoar. Dirty layer with spruce needles at 75 down, probably the Dec 7 layer. No reactive layers in compression testing, but got a planar failure at 55 down by levering hard with shovel at back of column. No surface hoar or facets visible on this layer either. So it's a pretty well bonded snowpack where we dug. 5-10 cm new powder in trees on top of windcrust. Wind affected in the open and the alpine.
