Quick report
- Cracking
- widespread
- Collapsing
- widespread
Snow had turned to rain Sunday morning, and with the 2 feet of new snow up high we decided not to risk riding Sunday so we headed out. When we would leave the groomed trail we would see shooting cracks nearly everywhere. The higby slide area had come down with multiple locations coming onto and across the road. Temps were in the upper 30s and it was currently raining.
Avalanche
Multiple avalanches were observed on our ride out from box y, mostly on East facing aspects but we did see 2 on a West aspect. All appeared to be natural release, not human triggered, and appeared to have happened Sunday morning. The slides ranged in size from a few yards wide to several hundred yards, and ranging in elevation from 6200’ to around 7000’.
