After our trip to Big Y (separate post) we headed to the col above Bryant/Fraser lake. Snow on this side of the pass showed much more uniform wind affect than the East side. Widespread unsupportive crust and sastrugi on all aspects traveled (East, South East, South) Evidence of widespread 'slope testing' by sledders across South aspects had yielded no results in the alpine and only one small result (picture 2 attached) at treeline. We observed one loose, wet natural size 1 avalanche, that had released from a cliff band on a SW aspect @ 1600m. Appeared quite recent. Strong inversion is present, so we kept ridgetop temperatures (particularly on solar aspects) in mind when travelling. Sled travel good, able to cover ground easily, and some travel was even pleasant.
