Stuck to non-solar aspects today. It was beautiful out, stayed away from other groups, parked secluded, and truly social distanced door to door. Skiing was quite good in the shade, we skied chutes/pillow terrain. Test pit at TL showed stability in the upper and mid pack. At 1600hrs we observed from afar, avalanche off of Crowfoot Mountain North peak (the usual spot) cornice failure, loose dry off of the steep cliffs to the moraine below.
Test pit at TL on a small bench with minor sun and wind exposure. HS 210-240cm, after soft F density upper pack of more recent snow, the mid pack is 1F to P density up to 100cm depth. Very stable. CTN, strong shovel shear down 100cm at saw - planar break on facets (0.5-1mm).
