Great day riding in the Seaton area. The sky cleared enough in the afternoon to allow us to shred the alpine with confidence. We found the mid February crust down 50cm on an east aspect at 1600m but did not get results with an extended column test on this layer. One size 2 avalanche was observed in steep alpine terrain. See the avalanche tab for more details. By mid afternoon the snow surface below 1400m was getting moist. Some small and inconsequential loose wet avalanches were observed on steep south facing terrain.
We observed one size two slab avalanche on a steep alpine feature. The avalanche ran on the mid February crust and was likely triggered by a natural cornice fall.
