Quick Observation

Waited until the Red Deer area got a bit of snow, and it paid off. 5 to 10 cm overnight, with light winds and not much drifting. Solid under that, with a light breakable crust on top of the old snow in the open, but not in sheltered areas. Dug a quick pit and found Hs 120 to 140 cm, with 10 cm new light snow on top. Thin ice crust at 55 down. Layer 40 cm down reacted in the hard range; 55 cm layer unreactive. Great fast skiing!
