Wind slab in the alpine, blower at treeline

Today we skied at Log Cabin. We dug a snow pit at 1200 m on a north aspect and did an extended column test that produced hard results on a layer of 1mm facets down 30cm. There was 195 cm of snow where we dug our pit. Winds were strong from the south throughout the day forming windslab in the alpine. Snow quality in sheltered areas at treeline was excellent and provided the best ski quality.
