Freezing rain and mild temperatures formed skiable thin crust on surface.

Ridge crest lee feature, I opted not to ski the slope after pole probing and seeing the wind effect from a safe 'enough ' spot, very heavy over light resistance. Triggered avalanche at skis as I was making my way back towards ridge for a safer option down. Surprisingly wide propagation running far. No involvement.
