Skied the Ledge Basin on Saturday, January 10. Temperatures warmed steadily throughout the day, with heavy, dense powder below approximately 1350 m.
With wind slab as the primary concern, I ski-cut a small north-facing test slope off Zeus Dome. The initial cut triggered a thin surface wind slab (~5 cm) that ran as no more than a sluff. After a few additional stomps and cuts, a larger wind slab propagated, releasing a crown up to ~20 cm at the top and producing a size 1 avalanche.
