Eagle Pass

We had a look up the Eagle Pass area today. The first couple kms of the road in are a bit patchy in spots but still in good shape.We saw a lot of terrain and no recent avalanches. Other than being mindful of cornices above our heads when we were hill climbing, we didn’t observe any avalanche problems in the area travelled. Dry snow can still be found on northerly aspects above 1800m. We did observe small surface hoar on non-solar aspects at treeline and above that may become reactive after the next snowfall creates a slab on top of it.
