Wilson Canyon

New snowfall has provided the slab that many lower and middle-elevation slopes have been lacking in the Tetons.  Easy hand shears and multiple propagating results in a snowpit showed failure within buried near-surface facets near the old/new interface. This layer of NSFs was around 10cm thick and very weak. HS 105, ECTP9, and ECTP12, E aspect, 7,900' with top 30cm comprised of new snowfall. Failure @ 75cm on NSF, and the remainder of the snowpack to the ground was a mixture of wind and sun crusts and weak snow. Well-developed and dry basal facets at the ground.
